The short version - I am a visual storyteller who loves to work in hard to reach places. Challenged by the elements and fleeting opportunities to get the shot. Whether it is leaning out of a helicopter, documenting wildlife and poachers in the bush or submerged under the waves I am fuelled by my passion to tell a story with unique imagery.
The long version - I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. After studying Nature Conservation at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) I was steered by passion and pursued a career in professional bodyboarding, chasing waves and competition around the world, ultimately winning a bodyboarding world title in 2012.
In late 2007 I was intrigued by the idea of capturing the experiences I was so lucky to enjoy on my travels. I needed a water housing and camera. From there my interests shifted from riding waves to photographing them. With a worry free outlook on life, I spent most of my 20’s circling the globe, while competing and honing my photographic skills, as I was appointed the Photographic Media Manager for the International Bodyboarding Association (IBA). Spending endless hours in the water, while documenting action water-sports at its highest level, my focus was drawn toward the intricate and ever morphing shape, colour, texture and incredible detail the oceans waves and natural world has to offer.
Today I find peace and joy while immersed, camera in hand, always moving and always searching for a unique image to unfold and capture.
